A design studio class during the lockdown time became the occasion to investigate at a distance a site unknown by the students, addressing the relationship between the designer and the site of intervention by dissociating the two physically and culturally.
Eliminating any preconceptions and as outsiders with a tabula rasa, the students at Phoenicia University in Lebanon, investigated the city of Udine in Italy. Divided into four parts, the studio analyzed the city on a macro and micro scale, followed by a master plan proposal that eventually led to contextually integrated architectural projects.
